COMMON QUESTIONS |

Are all “Crane Service” companies properly insured?

No! On the contrary, there are only a few specialized insurance companies that insure cranes. To clarify, this means in the country! This specialized insurance has both lift and riggers coverage. Nevertheless, many crane rental service companies are not properly insured. This is alarming!

Are crane operators REQUIRED by OSHA to be NCCCO Certified?

Yes! Anyone operating a crane with a capacity of over 2,000 pounds must be certified, particularly.

Are all crane operators who are NCCCO certified properly trained?

No! On-the-job experience is always the best teacher, of course. One minor wrong move is a liability for everyone on the job.

In 2018 OSHA issued the “Final Rule” requires the employers of crane operators to train operators as needed to perform assigned crane activities, evaluate, and document successful completion of the evaluations.

To summarize, OSHA deemed that the knowledge portion of operating a crane via obtaining an NCCCO Certification was no longer enough and placed a greater emphasis on the skills portion.

Are all cranes required by OSHA to be both inspected and certified?

Yes! There are no exceptions. In fact, some cranes actually require more than one annual inspection.

Importance of Avoiding Incidents Due to Unsafe Practices

OSHA has continued to implement firm regulations, particularly in the crane service industry. It is unfortunate that incidents such as falls, striking, crushing, and electrocution still occur. There are a variety of reasons for their occurrence. Ultimately, each of these incidents is avoidable. It is important to utilize a crane service rental company that is exceedingly concerned about safety on-the-job. Furthermore, they are knowledgeable and have certified operators who practice safe applications. These occurrences are something that no individual or company ever wants to face. Here at Precision Crane we use experienced operators on every job. We also have a history of zero incidents. Unquestionably, we will continue to practice safely in order to maintain that record.
